Probe for recording muscle activity, especially for recording the function of the continence organ of incontinent patients, with a probe rod 2 having a plurality of measuring electrodes 21, 22, and a probe head 4 having a cross-section that is at least partially increased relative to the probe rod 2 and which is designed so as to be at least partially electrically conducting as a reference electrode. An insulating layer 3 is provided between the measuring electrodes 21, 22 and the probe head 4. Between the insulating layer 3 and the probe head 4 there is arranged an electrically conducting ring 40 which has the same diameter as the probe rod 2 and is preferably connected integrally to the probe head 4 (Figure 2). <IMAGE>
