Shoulder subluxation orthesis

The shoulder subluxation orthesis comprises a shoulder part and an arm part of flexible plastic material and variable traction devices, and it possesses a direct traction device directed at shoulder height caudally to cranially and arranged between the arm part and the shoulder part. It thus forms a particularly suitable, effective support for patients suffering from subluxation of the head of the humerus due to hypotonic shoulder-arm muscles following a stroke. The direction of traction is optimally adjusted to lifting of the arm into the natural position by a traction guide on the shoulder part. The arm part that is designed as a longitudinally split sleeve, the longitudinal splitting being provided with a widening adapted to suit the biceps, guarantees the requisite rigid fixation of the arm by appropriately arranged closures. Another traction device laterally fixed on the arm part and dorsally guided toward the shoulder part is used to exert an outwards rotation upon the arm that has already been lifted into the natural position and thus counteract relieving posture.
