The invention relates to a coating agent system consisting of a binder component containing an acid-functional acrylate resin and of an epoxy copolymer curing agent with a coating agent with an epoxy-equivalent weight of 50 to 800. Mixing the two components gives a coating agent which may be used for a limited time and which is cured by the reaction between the carboxyl groups of the acrylate resin and the epoxide groups of the epoxy copolymer curing agent. According to the invention, at least one of the two coating agent components is it the form of an equous emulsion stabilised by the addition of an emulsifying agent. Both the binder component and the epoxy copolymer curing agent are preferably used in the form of aqueous, emulsifier-stabilised emulsions.
