Plane-iron and firmer-chisel grinding apparatus with guiding carriage

The abstract describes an apparatus for furnishing plane irons and firmer chisels with an industrial finish, while taking account, in particular, of different grinding angles. The apparatus is simply fixed by means of 2 wing screws in front of a double grinder or grinding pedestal (wheel stand). On the device there is placed a guiding carriage in which the article for grinding is clamped. This guiding carriage is placed on the device by hand and guided to and fro by hand in front of the grinding wheel until the article for grinding rests on the article-supporting rail located in front of the grinding stone. The grinding operation is completed. The grinding apparatus is adjustable by means of in each case 2 wing screws according to 1. the particular diameter of the grinding wheel (degree of wear), 2. the grinding angle on the article for grinding. For cooling during the grinding operation, the guiding carriage with the article for grinding located therein can also be held by 2 wing screws, taken clear of the apparatus, cooled and put back in place.
