In order to devise an antitheft device for a motor vehicle which has a brake pedal, as an addition to P 4307390.5, it is proposed that the pedal (1) be composed of a pedal support (9) which can be pivoted about a horizontal axis (8) and a guide rail (10) which is mounted so as to be longitudinally displaceable on the pedal support (9), has on its end facing away from the pedal support (9) the treading surface (11) of the pedal (1) and is articulatedly connected to the actuating rods (7) (for example brake linkage) and that to the guide rail (10) end adjacent to the pedal support (9) there be fastened a traction cable (14) which, by means of initiation of the actuating means (3) which engages on the other end of the traction cable (4), transfers the guide rail (10) out of the normal operating position into a withdrawn blocking position.
