The invention relates to a process for the oxidative treatment of water in a further development of the patent (Patent Application P 4137864.4). According to the invention, water containing Fe<++> and/or Mn<++> ions is supplied with gaseous oxygen in the form of air having a superficial velocity of air of 1 m/s to 10 m/s at a flow velocity of the water of 0.5 to 5 m/s at a position of the pipe system upstream of the water purification system, the air feed being performed up to a gas content of the air of 0.05 to 0.2 in the range of water flow velocity from 0.5 m/s to 5 m/s. The two-phase flow is maintained up to the end of the piping system.
