It is proposed, in the case of such a working plate, e.g. the base of a deep-frying appliance or the bottom of an iron, having a working surface made of special steel, a heat-conducting layer and a tubular heating element connected in a readily heat-conducting manner, as well as a second plate connected to the heat-conducting layer, to produce the latter plate from a material having substantially the same coefficient of expansion as the working surface. By this means, thermal movements of the working plate are to be avoided. <IMAGE>
