A power supply circuit is described, having an inductive storage element for storing electrical energy and a switching device for the essentially periodic supply of the power to the storage element, a rectifier arrangement for dissipating power from the storage element, a first control device for emitting a first control signal to control the rectifier arrangement synchronously with the supply of power via the switching device, a freewheeling arrangement for dissipating a current, which is not passed by the rectifier arrangement, in the storage element of a second control device for emitting a second control signal to control the freewheeling arrangement as a function of the current in the storage element. In the case of this circuit, according to the invention the occurrence of parallel-path currents and hence overloads of the components is avoided and an increase in the efficiency is achieved by an interlocking logic circuit, by means of which the rectifier arrangement and the freewheeling arrangement can be switched in opposition into a conducting and inhibited state, respectively, in such a way that a current flowing through both does not occur. <IMAGE>
