Safety-belt system for pregnant women sitting in the rear

In the event of road-traffic accidents involving vehicles, pregnant women, with or without a conventional safety belt, sitting in the rear of a vehicle are very much at risk. In the event of accidents, the belt running over the stomach and the pelvis results, in most cases, in pregnancy-related injuries. The invention solves the problem since the course of the belt of the two-part safety-belt system for pregnant women (upper belt (1), lower belt (8)) ensures a belt-free zone for the stomach area (child-bearing area) and the chest of the pregnant woman. As seen in the direction of travel, the upper belt (1) extends to the right from the belt retractor (3), beyond the right shoulder, above the chest and beneath the left arm to the belt buckle (7). The two lower-belt ends (9) are fastened in the lower region of the seat shell with head support (4). The central part of the lower belt (8) lies on the seat bench (5) on which the pregnant woman is seated. The front part runs over the lap of the pregnant woman. A second covering (14), beneath which the standard belt (15) of the vehicle runs, is additionally sewn on the seat shell (4). <IMAGE>
