<p>Filtration equipment for polluted water, comprises a reed filter bed (10) having a flexible, filtered water outlet pipe (16) and a feeder tank (18). The feeder tank (18) has an inlet pipe (20) for receiving polluted water to be filtered and a flexible, polluted water outlet pipe (22) leading to the filter bed (10). A flow control arrangement (24) controls the flow rates of water through both of the flexible outlet pipes (16 and 22) in accordance with a predetermined relationship. The flow control arrangement (24) includes a float (26) on a pivoted arm (30) for sensing the level of polluted water in the feeder tank (18), and links (34 and 36) connecting the arm (30) with the flexible pipes (16 and 22) to enable the flow rates through both pipes (16 and 22) to increase as the level of polluted water in the feeder tank (18) rises and to decrease as the level of polluted water in the feeder tank (18) falls. <IMAGE></p> |
