<p>A gas generator comprises a bottle (1) defining a volume (2) containing compressed gas. A housing (4) within the bottle contains a movable element (18). In an initial position the movable element lies adjacent at least one aperture (42) formed in the housing (4), that aperture initially being sealed by a sealing disc (43). The or each sealing disc (43) is initially supported by the movable element (18) and is held in position by compressed gas within the space (2). When the movable element (18) moves in response to activation of a triggering mechanism (10), the movable element (18) no longer supports the or each sealing disc (43) which then moves to a position in which it no longer closes the aperture (42) thus creating a flow path for gas from the space (2) to a reaction zone (15). <IMAGE></p> |
