PURPOSE: To detect the possibility of the hydroplane phenomenon in the early stage, by detecting the deformation in the circumferential direction of a projection (tread element) of a tire, and evaluating the waveform of the signal. CONSTITUTION: A permanent magnet 3 as a transmitter, is buried in a tread element 1 of a tire 2, and at least two hole generators 4 as the receivers 4 responding to the change of interval to the magnet 3, are installed inside of the tire 2. When the element 1 is deformed in the circumferential direction (the direction of double arrow 5) of the tire 2, the interval between the magnet 3 and the generator 4 is changed, and the change signal is supplied to an evaluating unit 6 each time. The unit 6 takes out the positive pulse on the deformation of the element 1 from the signal waveform, and confirms the inclination of the signal waveform at the center. Then the threshold for the possibility of the hydroplane phenomenon, inputted from an inputting unit 7 is compared with the confirmed inclination value. When the inclination value is over the threshold, a signal indicating the possibility of the hydroplane phenomenon, is outputted, and a displaying or warning unit 9 is operated.
