<p>PURPOSE: To easily operate an automatic gearbox at minimum structure cost in a drive device for an electric vehicle. CONSTITUTION: A drive device is formed of an electric motor 3 which can be controlled by a thyristor 20, a gearbox 5 having clutches 29 and 30 corresponding to at least two speeds, and an actuator 14 engaging the clutches and a switching controller 12 to which the revolving speed signals of an input side and an output side in the gearbox 5 are supplied. The clutches 29 and 30 of the gearbox 5 are engagement clutches without a mechanical synchronization device. The controller 12 operates on the actuator 14, operates on the thyristor 20 controlling the electric motor 3 and synchronizes the clutch parts before the engagement of the respective clutch parts 23 and 27, and 24 and 27. A method for switching the gearbox by a micro processor controller is shown.</p> |
