PURPOSE:To effectively utilize the merit of an electronic dictionary at a high level, to retrieve the dictionary information of a word to be retrieved, and to retrieve an example containing the word to be retrieved from the entire dictionary information as well. CONSTITUTION:This device is provided with an input means 11 for inputting the word to be retrieved and instructing dictionary retrieval, display means 12 for performing the various kinds of display, dictionary data storage part 13 for storing the index of words and the dictionary information containing the explanation and example of words while pairing them, dictionary data retrieval part 14 for reading the dictionary information of the word to be retrieved from the dictionary data storage part 13, example data position information storage part 15 for storing the index of the word and storage position information in the dictionary data storage part 13 corresponding to the example of the word inside the dictionary information stored in the dictionary data storage part 13 while pairing them, example data retrieval part 16 for reading the example containing the word to be retrieved from the dictionary data storage part 13 while referring to the example data position information storage part 15, and dictionary retrieval control part 17 for controlling the respective parts 11-16. |
