<p>PURPOSE:To detect a zinc oxide element which is physically and mechanically damaged, by electrifying the zinc oxide element in the state that the zinc oxide element is placed on a metal plate and making a sorting standard for the zinc oxide element the amount of a produced residual material which is produced and left on the metal plate by a generated gas to be generated from the zinc oxide element after electrification. CONSTITUTION:A zinc oxide element 1 is electrified in accordance with a sorting level from a high voltage power supply part 4 in the state that the zinc oxide element 1 is placed on a copper plate 2. The corresponding thermal stress to an amount of generated heat in each part of the element generating heat is generated in the zinc oxide element 1 according to the current value and the condition time. When the thermal stress exceeds the strength of the element, a split or a crack is generated from such a part, and at that time, a gas bursts from the element through a metallikon. The material of the metallikon bursts together with the gas to stick on the copper plate 2. An amount of the material to be stuck on the copper plate 2 is checked to make a judgment whether the zinc oxide element is good or bad, thereby performing the sorting of the zinc oxide element 1. Therefore, the element which is physically and mechanically damaged can be detected.</p> |
