PURPOSE:To obtain a device superior in economic efficiency and utility and capable of stably executing control matched with the ruddged state of a traveling road surface by judging the rudded state of the traveling road surface by using a speed signal generated from a wheel speed sensor and changing current control characteristics to that matched with the judged rudded state. CONSTITUTION:This vehicle control device consists of a speed sensor 1 for generating a speed signal with frequency proportional to the rotational frequncy of a wheel, a sensor input buffer 2, a control device (microcomputer) 3, a vehicle state switch 4, a switch input buffer 5, an actuator driving circuit 6, and an actuator 7. In the case of constant speed traveling on a good road, an output waveform from the sensor 1 is normally a signal with almost the same period, but the period of an output waveform from the sensor 1 is disturbed on a bad road. The control device extracts a feature parameter for wheel rotation variation to be varied almost irregularly and calculates an evaluation function for the rugged state of the road surface to judge the rugged state of the road surface. Then the device changes control characteristics for vehicle control in accordance with the judged rugged state of the road surface. |
