PURPOSE:To obtain a television(TV) receiver to be driven by a remote control device manufactured by the same manufacturer as that of the TV receiver and a remote control device manufactured by a different manufacturer. CONSTITUTION:When the TV receiver is specified to a remote controller setting mode from an input part 3, guidance pattern data are read out and a character pattern is generated from a character pattern generating part 5 and displayed on a display part 10. When an operation item for a TV is operated along the guidance by means of a remote controller device to be registered, a control part 15 stores data received from the remote controller device in a memory part 11. When the TV receiver is switched to a normal operation mode and the registered device 1 is operated, an infrared-ray signal is outputted, received by a light receiving part 13 and converted into an electric signal. The converted data are stored in a storage part 12, a comparing part 14 compares the data stored in the storage part 12 with the data stored in the memory part 11, and at the time of detecting the equality of both the data, judges the signal as a control signal received from the device 1 to start the operation of the specified control data. |
