PURPOSE:To prevent a calibration liquid to be decomposed and to accurately adjust a zero point by a method wherein a drain without carbon obtained by an extractor is reserved and a blank value is measured by using the calibration liquid. CONSTITUTION:A calibration liquid supplied to a sample liquid supplying pipe 2 is mixed with a reaction liquid by a reaction liquid supplying means 4 to be led to a deaerator 5 so that inorganic carbon is removed. After that, it is led to a reactor 12 to form carbon dioxide from organic carbon in the calibration liquid and is led to an extractor 14 to be divided to a gas and a liquid, i.e., carbon dioxide and a drain. A density of the carbon dioxide is measured by means if an infrared gas analyzer 17 so that organic carbon in the calibration liquid is quantified. The drain in which carbon dioxide is removed by the extractor 14 is supplied to a drain vessel 25 via a drain supplying pipe 24 to be reserved into the drain vessel 25 to a prescribed amount. The reserved drain is supplied to the supplying pipe 2 as the calibration liquid. |
