METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR TRANSFERRING CELL

PURPOSE:To provide the cell transfer method which starts communication without complicated connection setting and is capable of communication regardless of a fault of a call setting server and eliminates a need of updating the information for communication to another cell transfer device in the case of movement of a cell transfer device. CONSTITUTION:VPIs(virtual path identifiers) unequivocally set in a network are assigned to interface points (UNI) between an ATM network and cell transfer devices 27 to 29 and 2A to 2D; and when a transmission origin cell transfer device transfers a cell to a destination cell transfer device, the VPI assigned to the interface point to which the destination cell transfer device is connected is written in the routing header of the cell. Cell switching nodes 21 to 23 in the network transfer the cell in accordance with the VPI added to the routing header of the inputted cell without rewriting information of the routing header.
