PURPOSE:To provide a catalyst for purifying exhaust gas prevented from the sintering of noble metal, as a catalytic metal in high temp. atmosphere, improved in durability and excellent in purifying ability by developing an alumina capable of keeping high specific surface area and small in heat deterioration even after high temp. endurance. CONSTITUTION:The catalyst for purifying exhaust gas is provided with a coating layer containing at leas one kind of the noble metal selected from a group composed of platinum palladium and rhodium on a monolithic carrier, at least one layer of the coating layers contains at least one kind of the catalytic metals, an active alumina and barium and the active alumina is obtained by dissolving a soluble organic aluminum compound in an organic solvent, heating and after stirring, adding an organic barium salt solution, hydrolyzing, and drying and firing the obtained gel. |
