<p>PURPOSE:To provide the process for production of the drum for a rotary magnetic head device which facilitates machining of a stationary drum and rotary drum by means of cutting tolls for machining capable of withstanding long-term use. CONSTITUTION:This drums for the rotary magnetic head device include the rotary drum which rotates integrally with a magnetic head and the stationary drum 6 which guides traveling of a magnetic tape. The process for production of such drums consists of producing, at least, either of the rotary drum and the stationary drum 6 by forming a wear resistant film 11 consisting of a nonmagnetic material on the outer peripheral surface 10a of a drum base material 10, then machining the outside surface of this film 11 for forming a surface for contact with the magnetic tape mentioned above.</p> |
