PURPOSE:To display characters corresponding to data prepared by the devices of different code systems by detecting the font data of different code systems and displaying the characters while being exchanged with the font data corresponding to the second code system. CONSTITUTION:When a word processor function is designated, a CPU 20 reads the character code of document data from a RAM 24, reads the font data corresponding to that character code from a font ROM 22 and displays them on an LCD. On the other hand, when a DOS viewer function is designated, the CPU 20 reads the character code of a DOS file from any specified disk set to an FDD. Then, the code system of this device is compared with the code system of the DOS file and when there is any difference in the font data, the font data corresponding to the code system of the DOS file are read from the font ROM 22 while being exchanged, and displayed on the LCD. |
