PURPOSE:To realize an ultrasonic propagation-velocity measuring method wherein the preparation of a test piece can be performed simply and quickly and the speed of sound can be measured with high accuracy. CONSTITUTION:A test piece 10 which is provided with a cylindrical face-shaped outside face 10a is used as an object to be measured, and a flat ultrasonic transmitting face at an ultrasonic probe 2 which transmits and receives ultrasonic waves is brought into contact with the outside face 10a. The time in which ultrasonic waves 2a are moved back and forth inside the test piece 10 via the ultrasonic probe 2 in a contact state is measured, and a speed which has been computed on the basis of the measured time and of the measured value of the diameter of the outside face 10a is the measured value of an ultrasonic propagation velocity at the inside of the test piece 10. |
