PURPOSE:To facilitate processing in recording and reproducing incidental data in a digital VTR and to improve a data protecting function aginst error. CONSTITUTION:Each of incidental data recorded in an AUDIO area, a VIDEO and a SUBCODE area of a digital VTR is constituted of pack of fixed length of 5 bytes respectively. Concerning this 5 bytes, a first byte (PC0) is an item data (ITEM) indicating contents of data. A format of 4 bytes (PC1-4) succeeding to this item data is decided, arbitrary data is provided according to this format. Upper 4 bits of the item data is called a major item and lower 4 bits is called a minor item, the major item of upper 4 bits is data indicating a use of following data. On the other hand, the minor 4 bits is data indicating, i.e., concrete contents of following data. |
