PURPOSE:To provide the exchange network utilizing at least three degrees of freedom, time, wavelength and space. CONSTITUTION:In one embodiment including inter-two-point exchange, a time slot and a wavelength coordinate characterizing an output are allocated to each space channel between an input and an output and an input transmitter 17 and an output receiver 18 are tuned to a proper time and a proper wavelength coordinate, and a space channel between the input and output is finished by utilizing a selection switching. In the other embodiment for general-purpose switching, a set of space, time slot and wavelength coordinate is allocated to each input channel and an input signal is simultaneously communicated to all outputs connected selectively to the input having a proper coordinate set. |
