The preparation method for pollen extracts consists of (1) dispersing the pollens in 1-5 vol. of water, (2) grinding the pollen husks with glass beads using Dyno-mill, (3) adding organic solvents such as ethanol to a 5-20 % concentration, (4) stirring the mixture for 3 hrs for extraction, (5) filtering and concentrating the filtrate using vacuum evaporator to over Brix 30, (6) adding malto-dextrins to 10 % and freeze-drying. From process (2) more nutrients in the husks can be recovered, and the allergens can be discarded. |
