The invention relates to a connecting element for connecting two profiles of a window frame (2) or the like, in particular of a frame profile (8, 9) and of a centre-post profile (12) of a multiple-sash window (1), which connecting element, designed in an essentially cuboidal manner corresponding to a cutout arranged in the first profile (12), exhibits a standing surface (33) which can be positioned on the second profile, in particular the frame profile (8, 9), and has at least two openings (29, 47) which are arranged with their axis directions perpendicular to one another and into which the screw elements (44, 45) used for fastening to the profiles (8, 9; 12) can be screwed. In order to permit simple mounting of two profiles (8, 9; 12) arranged perpendicular to one another, in the case of which mounting, in particular, processing of a seal (23) arranged in the profile (8, 9) is avoided, it is proposed that the connecting element (20) be designed in two parts, the first part, designed as a butt-joint connector (21), being of an L-shaped design in longitudinal section and a second part, designed as a sealing body (22), being of an essentially cuboidal design in longitudinal section, and that the sealing body (22) and the butt-joint connector (21), when assembled, form a cuboid with a cutout (35) which engages over a seal (23) running in the longitudinal direction of the second profile (8, 9). <IMAGE>
