Dry shaver

In the case of the dry shaver, a shearing foil, as top cutter, is clamped over a rotating shearing roller, as bottom cutter. The clamping, shearing and frictional forces arising are directed such that they assist the mechanical stabilisation of the shearing foil. The shearing performance is thus improved, and vibration, wear and noise development are minimised by a rotational drive which is free of play during operation. Provision may also be made for a plurality of, preferably two, parallel shearing rollers, rotating in opposite directions, in a double shear head. If the shear head is mounted rotatably with respect to the housing and if the axis of rotation of the shear head coincides with at least one axis of rotation of the rotating drive system, non-symmetrical shear-head-side loading results in the shear head being rotated or inclined automatically with respect to the housing.
