<p>A piston and connecting rod (10) includes a connecting rod (11) supporting a piston (14). The connecting rod (11) has a piston end (13), with the piston (14) being supported on the connecting rod (11) so that it is moved away from the piston end (13) during pivoting of the connecting rod (11) in response to a predetermined angular movement of its crank end (12) so as to maintain the compression ratio during the combustion phase and increase the dwell period of the piston (14) prior to its descent.</p> |
