The invention relates to a forceps for performing dental treatments. The forceps (1) essentially comprises two forceps legs (2) which are joined in a common swivelling axis and are each formed by an operating lever (4) and a pincer lever (5). The forceps (1) according to the invention is distinguished in that at least one of the pincer levers (5, 6) is bent or angled off the plane of movement of the pincer levers (5, 6) and in that the projection of the pincer levers (5, 6) into the plane of movement shows a different length. Release of partial prostheses dentures on fitting of the prosthesis is facilitated with such a forceps. <IMAGE>
