The invention starts from a positioning drive which is used in particular for a machine tool and which has a hydraulic motor having a control disc rotatable with a motor shaft and provided with a cam at its periphery, a control valve attached to the hydraulic motor and having a valve piston displaceable between several operating positions, and a control element via which the valve piston can be supported against the cam. A simple, inexpensive and compact construction is obtained in that the control element is arranged and can be moved as a rectilinearly guided control pin and the valve piston is arranged and can be moved coaxially radially to the control disc.
