The system includes an animal-separator entry device associated with a sorting device. The invention lies in the fact that: - the separator device blocks the passageway by closing a barrier at the hindquarters of the animal which is passing, and frees the passageway for the following animal only when the separation distance obtained by time delay or with a passage detector is sufficient, - the separator can be used on its own as a module with counting so as to define counted batches of a constant number of animals applicable to automatic entrances to milking parlours with a central gulley, or with a computerised identification receiver and a milk gauge (scale) in order to know the milk yield from each animal, - the sorting device consists of a rotary-compartment sorting milking platform, with multiple exits, one per batch allocated, a compartment taking only one animal at a time, whose batch has been recognised at the entrance with the associated separator device equipped with animal-batch recognition, which makes it possible to lead the animal through the corresponding controlled exit.
