The invention relates to a peg for hanging hides (1) or the like including a fixed jaw (3) and a moving jaw (4) articulated to the previous one about a horizontal axis thus, in the active position, defining a pegging passage allowing the hide to be hung, which passage is offset laterally with respect to a vertical axis secant to the articulation axis. The jaws (3) and (4) are single piece and obtained by moulding a synthetic material of the corrosion-resistant polyamide family. The moving jaw (4) has an elbow (13) designed like a clevis around the arm (9), a flyweight (17) constituting the operating finger and a boss (16) including a rough clamping surface. The fixed jaw (3) has a ring shape (7) with a hole (8) allowing it to be engaged over a support (2) and an arm (9) having at its lower end an opening for the passage of a journal. <IMAGE>
