Vehicle roof with a folding top consisting, at least in part, of flexible folding-top material

The invention relates to a vehicle roof with a folding top which consists, at least in part, of flexible folding-top material and is intended either for closing or at least partially uncovering a roof opening. In contrast to known folding roofs, according to the invention the flexible folding-top material is produced as a rectangular cut piece which in the closed position covers only the central region of the roof opening which has essentially parallel side edges. The front edge of the folding-top material abuts against a front closing strut and the rear edge of the folding-top material abuts against a rear strut, which struts are designed as shaped pieces for the covering of the rounded transition regions of the roof opening, from the side edges thereof to the front and rear edges. Production and installation of a roof of this type are, as a result, substantially facilitated.
