摘要 The present invention discloses a device and a method for generating a signal which corresponds to a torque which is applied to a rotatable shaft. According to the present invention, a compensation of a change in temperature which causes a change of the characteristics of the circuit elements, including a magnetostrictive shaft, is carried out. In a preferred exemplary embodiment, a positive temperature coefficient resistor, whose resistance value is increased with increasing temperature, referred to a normal temperature (20 DEG C), is used as the temperature-sensitive input resistor of an inverting amplifier which is connected to a central pick-off point of a half-bridge circuit which is formed by a pair of coils which form a torque sensor with the magnetostrictive shaft, so that a gain factor of the inverting amplifier is set in order to balance out the change in the temperature. If no torque is applied to the shaft, no signal is generated at the central pick-off point of the half-bridge circuit (zero voltage), this signal representing a magnitude of a voltage signal which is generated as a result of a phase difference between the applied triangular wave voltages and the pair of coils with reference to the phase of a reference signal.
