In this braking device for a sliding door which can be transferred automatically into its closed position after the actuation of a release device under the effect of a return force, for example its own weight or a closing weight, there is provided a hydraulic pump (7) which is coupled positively at least to the closing movement of the door leaf (1) and in the closed pressure-medium circuit of which a quantity-regulating valve (9) is arranged for determining the closing speed. So that even a heavy door can be stopped within the shortest possible time during its closing movement, for example if it moves up against persons, a shut-off member, for example a shut-off valve (10), is additionally inserted into the pressure-medium circuit of the hydraulic pump (7), there being provided on the door edge located on the closing side a safety strip (13) known per se, and the shut-off member (10) coupled to the latter, for example mechanically or electromagnetically, being transferable into its locking position when the strip engages. <IMAGE> |
