Electrical connector having a cam effect

The connector consists of a first (female) housing (12) and of a second (male) housing (30) which can be pushed into one another. A first conductor (14) is fitted in the first housing (12) and its free end (14a) is prestressed transversely with respect to the axis (X-X). A second conductor (24) is arranged in the second housing (30) in such a manner with respect to the axis that the first conductor rests against the second when the first and the second housings are engaged with one another. A cam device (48) having a ramp and a step (48c) is provided in the second housing (30). The second conductor is arranged behind the step. When the first and the second housings are brought together along the axis (X-X), the first conductor (14) comes into contact with the ramp (48), and the cam surface bends the first conductor (14) against its prestressing. When the first and the second housings are completely engaged, the prestressing of the first conductor results in the free end (14a) of the first conductor (14) coming into contact with the second conductor (24). <IMAGE>
