A high-voltage switching device, to be precise a rotary disconnector switch (1), is illustrated and described, having two current path halves (2, 3), having two contact fingers (4, 5) which are arranged essentially parallel and form a part of the first current path half (2), and having a contact piece (6) which is arranged at the end of the second current path half (3) and which, in the closed state, makes contact with the contact fingers (4, 5), the longitudinal axis of the contact piece (6) running orthogonally with respect to the opening plane which is covered by the opening movement of the two current path halves (2, 3), and the contact piece (6) having a circular cross-section. According to the invention, the contact piece (6) is characterised, in order to improve the current carrying capability, in that it has at least one depression which runs around along its circular cross-section. <IMAGE>
