The invention relates to a packaging element for folding a shirt, in particular a men's shirt or similar garment, and for securing it in the folded state against becoming unfolded, consisting of a flat, essentially rectangular support plate on whose one narrow side a collar support is arranged, onto which the rear region of the shirt collar can be slid when the rear part of the shirt is placed on the support plate. The collar support is formed from a holder which is designed integrally with the support plate and from a collar support strip which can be fixed on said holder, the collar support strip consisting of a flat band of flexible material, which can be deformed from a stretched position with overlapping of its free interconnectable ends to form a closed ring, and a holding part which projects from the one longitudinal edge of this band in its central region at an angle to the band plane, is integral with the band and can be attached to the holder.
