<p>Apparatus for testing the sensitivity of a smoke detector (12) in-situ, includes a head assembly (1) comprising a housing (14) for surrounding a smoke detector in-situ and forming part of means (14, 15, 16, 17) defining a path through which air carrying an aerosol will, in operation, circulate, sensor means (25, 26, 27) for sensing the concentration of aerosol in the air circulating in the path, air circulating means (20) for causing air to circulate in the path, aerosol supply means (24) for supplying aerosol to the path and control means for controlling the concentration of aerosol in the air circulating in the path by controlling the air circulating means and the aerosol supply means in dependence on the output of the sensing means.</p> |
