INTEGRATED ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

An integrated electrical system (40) includes a first conductor (50) for receiving current power lines or other equipment. The conductor (50) is coupled to a conventional vacuum switch (62) for controlling flow of current through the system. A current collector (80) coupled to the vacuum switch (62) collects current from the vacuum switch (62). A second conductor (52) coupled to the current collector delivers current to equipment or lines externally of the device. The components of the system are housed within an inner epoxy (138) encapsulated within Polysil (42). The epoxy (138) preferably has temperature characteristics which are similar to that of Polysil (42) to prevent cracking due to temperature stress. At least one sensor (101) may also be provided integrally with the components for detecting faults or for sensing general power line conditions. A preferred voltage sensor (101) has resistive shielding (128) for accurate sensing in adverse environments.
