Public lockable bicycle stand

The connection of bicycles to bicycle stands actually necessitates thick and long chains which, however, are difficult to transport. Lockable standing places are known (in the form of cages) only for a circle of users which, in each case, is restricted. The present invention will therefore offer a lockable bicycle stand for an open circle of users. What is proposed is a stationary bicycle stand with a fixedly installed thick steel rope (3) which can be used by any subscriber for connecting the bicycle. For this purpose, he must insert (any) identification card (7) into a reading head (8) provided. Up to this moment, the code on the card can be any code, but is stored. Only when the same card is inserted again does the magnetic lock (6) release the rope again. Furthermore, for alarm protection, the integration of a wire or of an optical waveguide into the steel rope is proposed. The bicycle stand presented can be erected in the form of posts instead of or in addition to the otherwise conventional bicycle stands. Because identification cards can be purchased freely, it can be used by anybody. <IMAGE>
