A fixing element for the variable fixing of loads on storage and transport surfaces, having spaced-apart openings into which a fixing element can be inserted upright in each case, has an elastically flexible threaded rod which, in interaction with a screwed-on nut, fixes the load by tensioning relative to the bearing bottom. By means of a bottom body which is screwed to the threaded rod, the fixing element can be releasably connected to the bearing bottom. Owing to the flexible design of the threaded rod, the fixing element can be screwed to any attachment points, such as eyes, flange bores and the like, which may be present on the load. Precise alignment of the attachment points of the load relative to the fixing elements or relative to the receiving means of the bearing bottom is not necessary since the fixing element can be aligned to the attachment point by appropriate bending of the threaded rod. Using a band-like connecting element between two fixing towers, the load can also be fixed on the bearing bottom without using attachment points by wrapping said connecting element around it.
