PURPOSE:To improve the capacity and rate of metal ion adsorption by reacting a nitrile group-containing resin with both hydroxylamine or a derivative thereof and an amino compound. CONSTITUTION:A nitrile group-containing resin is allowed to reacted with hydroxylamine or a derivative thereof (a) and an amino compound (b) at ordinary temperature to 150 deg.C, the compounds (a) and (b) being used in amounts not less than 0.2mol and not less than 0.05mol, respectively, per equivalent of the nitrile groups of the resin. Thus, a chelate resin is obtained which has a functional group of formula I (wherein Q represents H, a 1-2C alkyl, or an amino-substituted 1-2C alkyl) and a functional group of formula II (wherein R represents amino, an alkylamino, a polyethylene-polyamino, hydrazino, iminomethylamino, guanidino, or semicarbazido). |
