A calcium-based composite metal oxide of the formula Ca1-xM<2><+>xO, wherein M<2><+> is at least one divalent metal ion selected from the group consisting of Mg<2><+>, Mn<2><+>, Fe<2><+>, Co<2><+>, Ni<2><+>, Cu<2><+> and Zn<2><+> and 0.005<x<0.5, and a halogen-containing resin composition comprising the oxide.
