PURPOSE:To provide the subject compound useful as a raw material for heat- resistant resins, a comonomer for polyolefins, etc., in a high selectivity by subjecting 1-cyclohexylethanol to a dehydrative reaction in the presence of zirconium oxide as a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:1-Cyclohexylethanol is subjected to a dehydrative reaction in the presence of zirconium oxide as a catalyst at 200-500 deg.C, preferably 300-400 deg.C, to produce vinylcyclohexane. The zirconium oxide catalyst is preferably obtained by calcining a zirconium compound as the catalyst at 300-1500 deg.C, preferably 500-11OO deg.C, for 0.1-50hrs, preferably 1-10hrs. |
