PURPOSE:To shorten the time needed for reading and transmitting the images and to acquire the satisfactory output images in an image recording method which applies the combination of a liquid crystal recording medium and a photosensitive body by reading roughly an entire image by prescanning before the main reading and then reading the highest and lowest density levels through a data processor. CONSTITUTION:When a color image is recorded by the combination of a liquid crystal recording medium 3 and a photosensitive body, the recording light received from a light source 1, for example, is decomposed into three faces by a filter 2 like a prism, etc. Then the RGB images are recorded at different parts of a single medium 3. When these recorded images are reproduced, the images are read by a CCD sensor 4 and amplified. Meanwhile a data processor 6 fetches data after the 12-bit A/D conversion. Then the images are roughly read by prescanning and the highest and lowest density levels are read by the data processor. In a main reading state, a 12-bit signal is converted into an 8-bit signal via a prescribed look-up table LUT between the highest and lowest density levels and for each color. The 8-bit signal is divided into 256 tones and the 256-tone image data is acquired. |
