IMAGE SIGNAL NOISE ELIMINATING FILTER

PURPOSE:To efficiently eliminate a noise of an image signal having an interlace structure, and to improve the encoding efficiency in an image signal noise eliminating filter of a median filter. CONSTITUTION:A first field and a second field for constituting an interlace signal are merged spatially and regarded as one frame. A small window constituting means 6 regards lines of a first field and a second field as adjacent lines in this frame, and constitutes such as inter-field window 7 as extends over the fields. A median calculating part 8 calculates the median in this inter- field window 7.
