发明名称 DIAGNOSTIC METHOD IN ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT HAVING POWER SAVING FUNCTION
摘要 PURPOSE:To secure the reliability of hardware while effectively utilizing a power-saving mode on a diagnostic method which is to diagnose hardware in the electronic instrument of a personal computer whose portability is regarded as important and which is driven by a battery. CONSTITUTION:A power-saving mode control program 84 saves the contents of a main memory 6a and an IO register 7 into an external storage device 12 when a monitor timer 10 detects that the non-operation time of an electronic computer passes for prescribed time or when a power-saving mode shift switch 11 is turned off. Then, the power-saving mode control program 84 executes a diagnostic control program 81 which a pointer 91 shows, stored the diagnostic result in a result storage area 92 and enters into the power-saving mode. The power-saving mode control program 84 refers to the result storage area 92 when the power-saving mode shift switch 11 is turned on, and generates an alarm when an error code exists so as to restore a system from the power- saving mode.
