A stabilizer composition contains a) a phosphine of the general formula PR1R2R3 (I) wherein R1, R2+L, and R3 independently from each other represent an alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or alkyl-aryl group or an aryl group which is substituted at the aromatic ring with one or more halogens and/or one or more alkyl, hydroxy or alkoxy groups and b) a hindered phenol. The stabilizer composition is useful for stabilizing thermoplastic polymers against discoloration. Optionally an organic light diffuser mixed with the thermoplastic polymer. The stabilizer composition is particularly useful for stabilizing polycarbonate compositions.
